Like a number of different gaming publications and portals, the modder community Mod db summed up the results of 2019 by selecting the top ten best mods of 2019 for game projects of different years and genres released in 2019.
10th place – Rise of the mandalorians for Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption
A complete remake of the strategy, which includes new units, sound and graphic effects, maps and much more. New mechanics create even more exciting gameplay in which a fresh Mandalorian faction replaces the Zann Consortium.
9th place – Tiberium Essence for Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
Tiberium Essence offers an alternative gameplay, which includes many Tiberian Sun units, which were missing in C & C3 vanilla, as well as other types of units. The mod also includes many visual and sound changes, balance adjustments, new music, new effects (blood and violence, new infantry deaths, new, more realistic, missile traces) and much more.
8th place – Age of Empires III: Wars of Liberty for Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties
This modification brings 24 new civilizations, dozens of new maps, natives, music and much more. Each civilization has its own characteristics that change the gameplay. By choosing a religion, one can gain access to new units, technologies, and the ability to collect and spend the resource of faith. You can monitor your enemies and destroy them without creating military units thanks to the redesigned spy system. The creators also implemented the elaborated era of the Great War, more than 50 new maps, nations, music and so on.
7th place – Battlefront 2 Remaster Project for Star Wars Battlefront II
A fan remaster of one of the most beloved games in the Star Wars universe, which offers players an updated graphic component, improved maps, equipment, weapons, characters and the ability to play online.
6th place – Republic at War for Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption
The add-on replaces the Empire with the Galactic Republic and the Rebel Alliance with the Confederation, and also contains content from the animated series The Clone Wars.
5th place – Half-Life 2: MMod for Half-Life 2: Episode Two
Half-Life 2: MMod aims to improve and expand the combat mechanics and immersion factor in the game, providing more opportunities, including in terms of shootings, as well as improving ways to control the arsenal. MMod offers minor AI updates, advanced features for soldier-harvesters, numerous bug fixes, improved visual effects, a VFX redesign, a sound redesign, and much more, keeping almost every new feature in the mod completely optional.
4th place – S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly for S.T.A.L.K.E.R .: Call of Pripyat
Anomaly is a standalone mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. using a custom engine assembly called Xray-monolith engine. After a year of development and updating of version 1.5.0, the mod continues to expand and add new features, while maintaining a high level of quality and replayability.
3rd place – Thrawn’s Revenge: Imperial Civil War for Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption
A large-scale mod for Empire at War: Force of Corruption, which includes the events of the Galactic Civil War after the death of Palpatine on Endor, up to the signing of the Pellaeon-Gavrisom agreement.
2nd place – Ultimate Apocalypse Mod (DOW SS) for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
The major Ultimate Apocalypse mod for Wahi offers 9 races, new units, buildings, abilities and titans that turn battles into a real epic.
1st place – Empire At War Remake: Galactic Civil War for Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption
Remake of the classic game Star Wars: Empire at Warcalled Empire At War Remake: Galactic Civil War, according to the results of user voting was recognized as the best mod of 2019. It significantly improves the graphics and makes the gameplay deeper. In it, players will find new models and textures for most units, as well as increased complexity.
