The authors of Ghost of Tsushima tried to justify the increased price of the game on PS5

Sucker punch spoke in more detail about the improvements Ghost of tsushima for the PlayStation 5 and why they ask for extra money.

Recall that the owners of the original for PS4 will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for about 2,200 rubles (upgrade to the PS4 version – 1,420 rubles), while a separate director’s version for PS4 will cost 4,999 rubles, and for PS5 – 5,499 rubles.

According to the developers, such a decision has a serious justification – the version of the samurai action for the new console is qualitatively different from the version for PS4. This is an atypical improvement to the game “just” thanks to the power of the PS5.

For example, lip syncing with Japanese voice acting will become a reality thanks to the rendering of cinematic videos in real time – they were pre-recorded on PS4, since the system’s capacity was not enough for such an adventure.

Other innovations for the PS5 version include:

  • support for feedback and adaptive triggers
  • audio enhancement for 3D audio
  • even faster downloads
  • work in 4K at 60 FPS.

In addition, the developers revealed that the island of Iki from the upcoming story expansion is closest in scale to the first region of the main game. Both in the amount of content and in the variety of terrain.

The director’s cut of Ghost of Tsushima will be released on August 20 on PS5 and PS4.
