The authors of Duke Nukem 3D also engaged in the development of a shooter for “Aliens” – review

Yesterday we talked about how game designer Cliff Blezinski, creator of the series Gears of warnegotiated with Fox about creating a first-person shooter by “Alien”. Vice President later 3D Realms (Duke Nukem 3D) Frederick Schreiber declaredthat at about the same time, he was also negotiating with a film company about a similar project.

3D Realms first-person shooter and Slipgate ironworks (console ports Ancestors legacy, Daymare: 1998 and Wrath: aeon of ruin) was called Aliens: Hadley’s Hope, and his events took place in the colony of the same name in the franchise universe.

The players were waiting for a co-op for four and PvE, with an emphasis on the plot, where the colonists and foot soldiers fought against the xenomorphs and their Queen, who was ready to defend her eggs at all costs.

To complete all levels, gamers had to act together. Only at the end could the team fight the Queen in her well-protected den. Unfortunately for the players, dozens of Queens with their hives lived on the planet.

You can learn from the concept that at the start in Aliens: Hadley’s Hope several levels would be available with their own unique styles and tests, including basic and additional tasks, for which you could get loot, pieces of the plot or Easter eggs.

3D Realms and Slipgate Ironworks planned to support Aliens: Hadley’s Hope with new content for many years, but the project had to be canceled at the pre-production stage, when Disney bought Fox.
