Ten Years of Metro: Announcement of the nextgen version of “Exodus”, the first details about the next part and 4A Games plans for a new big IP

Studio 4A Games published a post on her website on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the game series Metro, where she made several announcements and shared her plans for the future.

Metro Exodus will be released on nextgen

The last part of the franchise in 2023 will receive a re-release for Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5. The authors will talk about all the improvements later, but it is already known that among them there will be at least a higher frame rate, increased resolution, reduced download times and support for ray tracing. Owners of versions of “Exodus” for consoles of the previous generation (on disks or in digital – it doesn’t matter) will get the opportunity to update for free on new consoles.

Next Metro in development – details

The fourth Metro is officially being built for ninth generation consoles and PCs on a completely redesigned studio engine that takes full advantage of the new platforms, including increased power, faster storage, and ray-traced graphics accelerators.

The developers are not yet ready to share details, but have confirmed that this will be a large, story-driven singleplayer game. 4A Games takes the franchise responsibly and is confident that fans will love what they have planned for the next chapter of Metro.

That said, the studio is also working with Saber Interactive to create an online experience in the Metro world. So far, everything is at the level of studying concepts, but the developers assure that they are not going to do this for the sake of a tick or to follow trends. It is also not yet clear if the multiplayer will be released as a standalone game or as an additional mode.

“As creators, we want to explore a multiplayer experience that makes sense in the Metro universe. We also strive to ensure that everything we do doesn’t compromise our singleplayer ambitions. on the online component, and this is what our new partnership with Saber can bring. “

New IP

In 2017, 4A Games took the first step towards its goal of being a multi-project studio with Arktika.1, a sci-fi first-person shooter for the Oculus Rift, and now the team wants to build on that ambition and create another new AAA project that could be put on a par with the Metro series. The studio is currently recruiting employees for its offices in Malta and Kiev.
