A retired alcoholic, able to see time slightly differently than everyone else, cleans the city of dirt – and this is generally enough to create a suitable atmosphere. After all, in those dirty areas where the game takes place, hardly anyone will bother with decorating a Christmas tree, even for the holidays.
And nevertheless, the first Max Payne has become the same Christmas classic as “Die Hard” for the cinema, fortunately, both there and there, cops appear in the center of the plot in a difficult situation.

At first glance, the Nintendo platformer has nothing to do with the New Year’s mood. But the situation can be easily changed by entering the secret code “Merry”: the heroes immediately dress in themed costumes, decorations and snow appear on the secret levels, and the music changes for a more suitable season. And instead of bananas, you have to collect gifts and decorations for the Christmas tree.
Otherwise, this is the same game, recognized as a classic platforming and squeezing all the juices out of the old SNES. The consistent quality of Nintendo games shows that older titles are not always worse than modern titles.

The most ambitious game in the series with five protagonists and personal storylines is also the most New Year’s one. This concerns, first of all, the plot of Taiga Saejima – a mighty gokudo who is forced to escape from prison in search of the truth. Among his side assignments there is one in which the noble criminal will dress up as Santa and give cuffs to the villains who interfere with the celebration in the city. In addition, in Hokkaido, where most of Saejima’s adventures take place, preparations are in full swing for the festival in honor of Christmas: the park is decorated with themed figures of snow and ice, decorations are found around the city, and if you wish, you can participate in a snowball tournament. Isn’t it a New Year’s mood?

The first mission starts with a search for gifts for Christmas by one of the secondary heroes of the story, while Bayonetta herself is shopping for a Christmas party at the same time. And although the number of references to Christmas decreases further in the game, the spirit of the holiday does not completely go away.
The merchant Rodin in a Santa Claus costume is worth a separate mention – a truly unforgettable sight. For playing with the family, however, Bayonetta 2 is poorly suited due to its excessive frankness, but is this a disadvantage?
