After a resounding success Hades it would be logical to expect the studio to be engaged in a sequel, but so far this is not the case.
Co-founder Supergiant games Greg Kasavin doesn’t think another trip to the ancient Greek underworld is worth it. Now the developers are already mired in Tartarus: the upcoming releases of Hades on the PlayStation and Xbox take up all the time, so there are simply no thoughts about future projects yet.
“We never thought about what would happen next. We are not planning the next game until we have completed the current project. Perhaps our team is a little superstitious in this regard – it is important for us to be sure that what we are working on at the moment receives from us all our time, energy and attention.“.
For fans of the studio, such a statement is not surprising: none of the previous Supergiant Games games have ever received a sequel.
Despite the fact that each studio project is unique in its own way, they have a lot in common: atmosphere, gameplay, emphasis on colorful characters, art design and music. Kasavin confirmed that the attention to all these details will remain unchanged in future games.
Hades is currently playable on PC and Nintendo Switch, and launches on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series and Xbox One on August 13. Xbox Game Pass members will receive a roguelike game for free.
