Ghibli Studio confirmed that it has two new paintings in production, one of which is the first full-length film Hayao Miyazakicreated by the director after his retirement in 2016.
The legendary Japanese animation studio revealed its plans for the future as part of the annual New Year’s address, where, in addition to the actual announcement of the second picture, she spoke in more detail about the work of Miyazaki called Kimi-tachi wa Dō Ikiru ka (“How are you?“). The film will be based on the novel of the same name by Yoshino Genzaburo in 1937, which tells about the adventures of 15-year-old Koper and his uncle. Initially, the picture was planned to be released before the opening of the 2023 Olympics in Tokyo. However, according to producer forecasts Toshio Suzuki, the film is likely to be released between 2023 and 2023. As of October last year, the film was only 15% complete.
Ghibli studio itself did not provide any additional details about the release window for the film Hayao Miyazaki, or for the just announced second picture.
