Studio Valve has officially announced its new hybrid / handheld console called Steam Deck… The first details were published on the gadget page in the digital store Steam…
Steam Deck very much resembles Nintendo Switchcrossed with an Xbox One controller. The main difference is the two trackpads, which are located under the sticks.
Commissioned by Valve, the company AMD developed a custom APU optimized for portable gaming. As for the filling, it supposedly will provide enough performance to run fresh AAA-level games:
- AMD architecture-based processor Zen 2, 2.4-3.5 GHz (up to 448 gigaflops FP32);
- AMD architecture-based graphics accelerator RDNA 2 with two compute units, 1.0 GHz-1.6 GHz (up to 1.6 teraflops FP32);
- RAM – 16GB LPDDR5;
- seven-inch liquid crystal screen (touch) with a resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels (16:10) and a refresh rate of 60 Hz;
- operating system SteamOS 3.0 (on the base Arch Linux);
- Bluetooth 5.0;
- Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz;
- 40 Wh battery (two to eight hours of play);
- dimensions – 298 mm / 117 mm / 49 mm, 669 grams.
For convenience, the developers have provided four additional petal buttons on the rear panel, two trackpads and a gyroscope. Separately, you can purchase a special docking station that will allow you to connect the console to a TV, monitor and other devices, as well as a memory card format microSD…
Steam Deck shipments will start in December 2023, with three configuration options available:
- 399 dollars – 64GB eMMC internal storage and case;
- 529 dollars – 256GB of internal NVMe SSD storage, carrying case, faster storage, exclusive Steam Community Profile Bundle;
- 649 dollars – 512GB internal NVMe SSD, exclusive case, fastest storage, exclusive Steam Community Profile Kit, premium chemically etched anti-reflective glass, exclusive virtual keyboard theme.
You also need to take into account that the delivery will initially be carried out only in the USA, Canada, the European Union and the UK. In 2023, the list of countries will be expanded.
