Creator Gears of War Cliff Blezinski planned to start developing a game based on Alien. The former game designer told about this on his Twitter page.
How it was: before closing Boss key productions in 2018, Blezinski was considering the next project a new game in the Alien universe. The studio turned to Foxbut due to interference Disney, which then entered into negotiations for the purchase of Fox, the deal fell apart in the process.
Blezinski also briefly described the concept of a failed project. In the timeline of the universe, the game was supposed to be placed after the “Aliens” from Cameron, ignoring the events of subsequent sequels. They planned to make the matured Newt the main character, and Ellen Ripley would act as a secondary character like Anya from Gears of War or Cortana from Halo. All actions were to take place on Earth in the Weyland-Yutani scientific complex in the manner of the Black Mesa. According to the plot, the corporation conducted experiments with xenomorphs there, turning them into weapons, but at one point everything had to “fly to hell.” Stille Newt had to have an android partner Casey, named after her doll from the movie, and the gameplay was a first-person shooter. The developer drew inspiration from comics Dark horse.

Blezinski noted that he would never work with third-party IPs, with the exception of two – “Aliens” and “Transformers”. Unfortunately, now we are unlikely to find out how the project should have turned out.
After the collapse of Bos Key, Blezinski promised never to return to game development, however, he recently expressed his desire to help The Coalition with the development of the Gears of War franchise as a consultant.
