Like all updates from the previous four years, the new feature has almost no effect on Wii U functionality. According to a note from the official website, Firmware 5.5.5 includes “additional overall system stability improvements and other minor usability fixes.”
Famous dataminer OatmealDome rummaged in the files of the new update and found that it changes part of the SSL protocol code that allows the device to make secure and verified connections to remote servers…

Nintendo Wii U was launched in November 2012, but after 4.5 years it was discontinued, having sold over the entire life cycle in quantities 13.56 million devices… The latest big game from Nintendo is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Released on Wii U in March 2017.
