Sony patents a lone player companion robot

The network found a mention of a new patent Sony, which describes a companion that responds to emotions and gameplay. The gaming division of the company filed an application with the U.S. Patent Office in April 2018. Her description says that the robot will join the user during the game and will watch him, showing sympathy.

An example is the expression of emotions of joy or sadness, the player’s motivation and all his encouragement. For this, Sony even came up with a special module that allows you to recognize the feelings of users.

Using a companion is not limited only to games, it can also come in handy when watching movies, TV shows and other programs alone.

This is not the first such development of the company. Back in 1999, Sony released a puppy-shaped Aibo companion robot. In 2006, the company closed the production of dogs and many felt that the idea did not take root until ten years later, Sony Electronics announced a new version of the Aibo ERS-100, which appeared on sale in early 2018.
