Company Sony Interactive Entertainment happy with the sales of all of its exclusives released between April and June 2023. These include Returnal, MLB The Show 21 and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart… This was told by the CFO of Sony Corporation Hiroki Totoki during today’s presentation of the quarterly report.
Sales of all games exceed expectations. Separately, Sony mentioned MLB The Show 2023 – the impact of the baseball simulator on financial performance was “significant”, due in part to the high demand for additional content…
As of June 30, the last Sony releases have sold in such numbers.:
- Returnal – 560 thousand copies
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart – 1.1 million copies
- MLB: The Show 21 – 2 million copies (over 4 million players including Game Pass subscribers)
In total, in April-June 2023, Sony sold 10.5 million copies of its own games – 8.2 million less than in the first quarter of last year. Hiroki Totoki explained that this is primarily due to the lack of a blockbuster level this year. The Last of Us Part II (whose sales exceeded 4.5 million copies in the first three days) and a slight decrease in user activity due to the lifting of severe coronavirus restrictions in many countries of the world.
