Texas studio Bluepoint games has been working with Sony Interactive Entertainment for many years, creating updated versions for it Uncharted 1-3, Gravity Rush, Shadow of the colossus and Demon’s Souls… The team is still free-floating and many are wondering why Sony still hasn’t acquired it, as Microsoft has done with many other studios. But it looks like it will happen.
According to the latest information from the user ResetEra under the moniker MarsipanRumpan, Sony is currently allegedly finalizing a deal with Bluepoint, and the purchase is likely to be announced shortly. Rumored to be the development of a remake of Demon’s Souls was a kind of “final test” for the team, and now Sony is convinced that Bluepoint Games will be a worthy member of SIE Worldwide Studios…
If the deal does go through, then it is possible that Bluepoint will want to create their own original IP, although they will likely continue to work on remakes as well and will act as technical support.
The author of the rumor claims that he has several sources close to Bluepoint, but the ResetEra moderators were not able to verify their reliability. Nevertheless, the information was still published on the forum, but if it is not confirmed by February 28th, MarsipanRumpan asked to permanently block his account.
