With the release of Returnal, SIE Worldwide Studios CEO Herman Hulst says the Finnish studio has proven it “has an incredible vision and is capable of creating memorable new games that resonate with the community.”

Kuittinen stated that with the support of SIE and its studios, Housemarque will be able to truly take its place in the industry and show what it can create without limits.
In an interview with Famitsu, Hulst and Kuittinen noted that negotiations for the deal began in 2023, but were delayed due to the release of Returnal. It is also noted that Housemarque will expand.
