Company Sony Interactive Entertainment and venture fund RTS (it is controlled by the holding Endeavor Group) jointly bought the rights to the world’s largest esports fighting tournament Evolution Championship Series (EVO) that belonged to the company Triple perfect… This is stated in the official press release.
According to the statement, the co-founders of EVO are brothers Tom and Tony Cannon – will continue to participate in the development of the brand as advisors. The new owners intend to transform EVO into a global esports platform. The details of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
“Fighting has been an important part of the PlayStation legacy and our community of gamers since the beginning, so we’re excited to partner with EVO,” said SIE Vice President Steve Roberts.
It was also announced that the tournament will return online this year. EVO Online 2023 will be held from 6 to 8 August, as well as from 13 to 15 August. Players from North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia will be able to take part in it.
