Moreover, all of them will use the features of the new items – powerful CPU and GPU, as well as high-speed SSD. All this will automatically improve the performance and image quality in old games, especially in those that use dynamic resolution and unlocked frame rate.
Moreover, the ability to “freeze” several games in memory at once will be relevant not only for projects under the Xbox Series X, but also for titles from previous generations of Xbox.
At the same time, some old games for the Xbox, Xbox 360, or Xbox One “manually” will improve for the Xbox Series X, as they did on the Xbox One X – for example, Splinter Cell: Blacklist On the Xbox 360 it worked at a resolution of 720p, but on the Xbox One X it was increased to 4K. All this works at the emulator level – the code of the game itself was not touched at all.
Microsoft in the case of the Xbox Series X intends to increase not only the picture quality of such exceptional projects, but also the frame rate – somewhere up to 60 FPS, and somewhere up to 120 frames.
In addition, as previously reported, HDR will be added to old games for backward compatibility – it will automatically optimize the picture. We will find out how well these algorithms can implement at the end of the year.
