SnowRunner Review | Gamemag

The basic gameplay has not undergone major changes since the last game. You take a car or truck and overcome the climb, slopes, rocky slopes, fords, mud or snow traps. To do this, differential locks, a lower gear, four-wheel drive and a winch are given to help you.

Optimization of movement on the map is still necessary, since any vehicle uses fuel. Some are less, others are more. Garages are not on all maps, but getting stuck five meters to the final destination can be very annoying. There is a way out of this situation – you can get to a stuck car on another vehicle, pull it out by tying it with a winch, or repair and refuel if you have the necessary resources.

Winch is a universal tool that will help both get out of the mud and keep the car from turning over on a steep slope. The main thing is to tie it to a strong object in advance.

Not all will do. For example, young trees easily burst with roots if you attach a heavy four-axis monster to them, but at the same time they are enough to stretch the SUV on which you explore the world.

Trucks and SUVs can be improved and tuned: replace the engine, gearbox, put a high suspension, large wheels with better cross-country ability, change the load module to transport ordinary goods, fuel, repair parts or put a saddle and re-qualify the truck in a tractor.

The front and rear bumpers, the roof, the rims and the color of the car itself are customized. You can choose a coloring from pre-prepared options – they do not allow you to mix your own.

The damage model has undergone changes relative to the last game. Now damage is done in one of five modules. If the engine, fuel tank, suspension and gearbox can be repaired by spare parts, then the punched wheel now requires a spare wheel, which is more logical.

The game presents the technique of the Russian Federation and the USA. The equipment from Russia is not licensed, but in most cases models are easily guessed. In turn, transport from the United States is fully licensed: there is Caterpillar, Hummer, Frelinliner, Western star, International, Chevrolet and lesser-known army specimens.

Transport in the game is divided into several classes: scout, highway, cargo, all-terrain vehicle and heavy. The first includes all light and relatively light equipment, which is not suitable for the transport of goods. At best, you can use a small trailer that will fit one piece of luggage.

Highways are well suited for paved roads, but can do very little off-road, even with improvements.

Trucks no longer give in to light and medium terrain, especially if there are improvements, but they are not suitable for all situations.

All-terrain vehicles are the most versatile, as they can confidently move along any roads with any cargo module, but their capabilities are not unlimited.

Heavy ones cope with serious off-road conditions best of all, but their scope is very limited due to the small set of cargo modules, most often they can only be used as tractors.

And there is something to drag in the game. SnowRunner has many variations of trailers. There are short ones with a rotating front axle. They hold as much as most trucks with the appropriate module.

The semitrailers that we are used to seeing with truckers make it possible to transport a little more than a truck with a short trailer, and is more convenient to use.

You can also find large oversized trailers, for which heavy trucks are best suited.

In the game, as before, there is a cooperative for four people. Playing with friends is more fun, and so you can go through the game from start to finish. Progress is considered only for the leader of the lobby, and the rest receive a reputation and money.

In this case, the purchased equipment is common for single and cooperative modes. On the cards of one region, players are free to move freely and perform any available tasks, and only the host can change the region.
