The delay-based code tries to synchronize the players’ entry times by forcibly delaying the faster entry. The game cannot start the simulation until answers from all participants are received, and at such moments it simply slows down.
In contrast to this method, the network rollback code tries to predict the login data and thus starts the procedure immediately. If the real data match the predictions, the game continues, if not, the developers have to figure out a way to disguise its “jump” to its original state.
