Rumors about the start of optimization of their business by the German manufacturer of audio equipment have been circulating for a long time, but since in Sennheiser they were in no hurry to reveal all their cards, scattered and often contradictory information began to appear on the network. Only one thing was known for sure – negotiations are underway with a Swiss company. Sonova, engaged in the development and release of products for the hearing impaired, but what role it would play for the Germans was anyone’s guess. As a result, scattered and contradictory information began to appear on the network. Some claimed that production would go to Sonova Hi–Fi audio, others insisted that it was the professional segment of Sennheiser products.
So, here’s what we found out. Yes, indeed, we are talking about a partnership with Sonova, in which the entire consumer equipment sector, produced by the Germans, will go to the Swiss.
And this: portable Hi-Fi, wireless TWS headphones and, as scary as it sounds, all products related to audiophiles. Sonova has at its disposal: people, equipment and know-how. For themselves, Sennheiser retains professional audio and surround systems. Meirroz even cited specific models as examples: Sennheiser HD 25, 280 Pro and Ambeo Soundbar…
When asked whether the release of existing headphone models will continue and whether they will be supported, York answered in the affirmative, stressing that the German brand is extremely scrupulous about warranty and post-warranty obligations. As an example, Meirroz cited spare ear pads that have been produced for the same headphone model for about 30 years. Nobody is going to remove from production something from the current lineup either. “We’d be crazy to do that,” says York.
Judging by what Martin Grieder said, Sonova is going to seriously invest in the business they have received, develop it and integrate branded developments into products to improve the quality of life of hearing impaired people. The sound quality bar of Hi-Fi headphones will not fall. About the latter, about high quality, Martin said several times, focusing on the fact that Hi-Fi and Hi–End will carry the signature sound character familiar to anyone who has ever listened to Sennheiser headphones. This will be achieved due to the fact that the development and tuning of drivers, or more simply, emitters, will be done by the same people as before, however, due to large investments from Sonova, they will get more freedom of action and more opportunities. When asked what trademark the products will be manufactured under, Martin and York said – Sennheiser and added that it is not so much about the fact that part of the business of one company is transferred to another, but about the merger and mutually beneficial cooperation.
