Mike Grover showed a Lightning to USB cable capable of intercepting passwords and then sending them to a hacker. Externally, the accessory is identical to the original, but inside OMG Cable hides a chip that can steal user data.
As reported Vice, it will be difficult to find such a cable, since it fully fulfills its functions: it synchronizes with a computer and charges a smartphone or tablet. However, when connected, a Wi-Fi access point is created, to which the hacker connects remotely and, using a web application, registers the owner’s keystrokes (the so-called “keylogger”).
