Searching for games and content has become much more convenient – Valve talked about improvements to the search function in the Steam Store

Company Valve announced the release of new functions aimed at simplifying and improving the search in the digital distribution service Steam. Thanks to new filters and general improvements in the store, it has become even more convenient to look for both new games and something specific.

The developers said that the search changes were one of the projects in the laboratories of Steam, where users try the latest developments and judge their usefulness. The creators highlighted the main innovations that are already available in the entire Steam store.

Now, when searching, players can specify the maximum price or leave only products with discounts in the results. These features will help you find both affordable games and anything specific during the sale.

New ways to use tags to search for games are now available. A number of results is displayed next to each label, so that it’s easier for you to figure out which ones match your query the most. At the request of users, developers also introduced the ability to exclude tags from the search. If you like survival games, but without zombies and not in the horror genre, then now you can find them.

In addition, the “sort by relevance” algorithm now puts more emphasis on the labels you have chosen, so first of all you will see the most relevant results, regardless of their popularity.

Valve realized how inconvenient it was to search for something in the store’s huge list of games. New filters allow you to not display the games that you have hidden from the store, have already bought or added to the wish list. These options work instantly, so you don’t need to refresh the page or repeat the search, and your preferences will be saved even the next time you search.

If you do not have a helmet of virtual reality, then games only for him are unlikely to interest players. Now it will be possible to exclude such search results, but games with optional VR support will still be displayed.

Pages with search results now automatically load when scrolling. The search parameters and the place where you left off will be saved when you go to the page of a game, so that when you return you don’t have to scroll through the results again. If you prefer the division into pages, then it can be returned in the settings of the store.

If you use Steam not in English, the language filter will be placed above, and the language you use will be fixed at the very top.
