Sargeras Sword will play a role in the plot of Shadowlands – review

We already wrote that in World of warcraft alpha testing of a future expansion started Shadowlands. And game team members sitting in isolation due to a pandemic communicate with players in live broadcasts.

Game director Jon Hazzikostas visited the broadcast of the streamer Slooty Mctoot and talked about remaking classes and trophies. And the lead narrative designer of World of Warcraft Steve Danuser glanced at Taliesin & Evitel. And his answers related to the plot of the supplement.

Some aspects of the story can be perceived as a spoiler, although in reality they are no longer.

  • Plot “Battle of Azeroth“Disappointed players in many aspects, and they are trying to take this into account. Blizzard already knows how the storyline of “Dark Lands” will develop and how it will end. And patches will not end on ambiguous points.
  • The plot of Shadowlands is developing linearly, culminating in the Revendret, followed by the choice of covenant. But over time, in upcoming patches, scriptwriters may introduce some plot forks.
  • Covenant campaigns were modeled on the military campaign “Legion“: For each story will be different, but it has something in common with the main plot.
  • During the Battle of Azeroth, players could make a choice: join Sylvanas or go against her. Alas, this will not affect the events of Shadowlands. However, some NPCs will respond appropriately.
  • In the Battle for Azeroth, a variety of heroes did evil, now the jailer will be the main “bad guy”. He has long influenced events in Azeroth, and he has other allies besides Sylvanas.
  • In Shadowlands, we can look at many aspects of history and cosmogony from the perspective of the titans. It is only unclear whether we can visit their worlds.
  • The story of Tyrande will continue, and the scriptwriters have not forgotten about the difficult fate of the night elves. We will even see touching story clips dedicated to them. In general, there will be even more videos than usual, because they want to develop and improve the plot.
  • Bolvar Fordragon will play a key role in the supplement, much like the earlier Khadgar and Magni. Although he himself has not been to the Dark Lands, he still knows something about them and will help us. We will also learn more about his past and daughter.
  • Blizzard did not succumb to the temptation to pull out all the key characters of past additions to Shadowlands. They decided to concentrate on several figures, mostly still alive, who would help reveal the story of the Jailer.
  • In particular, they have not yet decided what to do with Arthas. This is such a large character that they want to make his return, if it takes place, as it should.
  • The sword of Sargeras, which, after defeating N‘Zoth, remained stuck in Silithus, will play an important role in the plot.
