Saints Row restart announcement – SR2 vs SR3 balance, details, trailer and release date

A whole console generation later Volition finally ready to present a new Saints row – it became a complete restart of the series, unrelated to the previous parts.

review addiction visited a closed presentation of the project and shares the first details.

The scene of action was Santo Ileso – most of all it resembles Los Santos and its surroundings from Grand theft auto v, that is, the developers were inspired primarily by Los Angeles, although the same suburb is more reminiscent of the more classic areas of the Wild West.

Nine districts of the metropolis were divided among themselves by three groups – Pantheros (bandits), Idols (hipster anarchists) and Marshall (high-tech military).

However, some are dissatisfied with the current order, and, led by the protagonist Boss, a gang of Saints is formed. In addition to the protagonist, the leaders became the strategist Eli, mechanic Nina and public lover Kevin… Each came from his own gang, where he was not appreciated enough.

The backstory of the Boss was not revealed, but it is still possible to meticulously customize the appearance and gender of the protagonist. Also, it seems, they will be allowed to create their own minions – apparently, something like the Jomsvikings from Assassin’s creed valhalla

Main characters: Kevin, Boss, Eli and Nina

Saints Row in the third part abruptly changed the vector to extremely absurd humor, which with subsequent releases only became more absurd – however, the restart will slow down the heat, and the general tone will resemble something in between the second and third parts.

In general, the developers want to return to the classic Saints Row about gang confrontation. The structure of the open world is also built around the war with groups – the Saints will have to conquer territories and build their own business, and this will already be in the hands of the players.

Looking to build a recycling plant in the financial district? Please. It is not a fact that the residents will like it, but you will have such an opportunity“, – from a conversation with Volition.

The cinematic trailer evokes an unexpected association with an old one Total overdose, although the game itself is still closer to some Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (and the first two Saints Row).

Ultimately the story of the new Saints Row about a start-up company. Just the realm of the Saints it’s a crime

The sore point of the series has always been the physics of cars – the restart is created on a new engine, and the developers pay much more attention to the control of cars. Visually, the transport seems to be behaving much better than before, but it is too early to draw conclusions.

Interestingly, although Volition promises an extensive arsenal of firearms and other types of weapons, the team wants to make transport almost the most important weapon in the hands of players – at the presentation they showed how a helicopter with a magnet can destroy dozens of enemies and equipment using a car.

Another distinctive feature of the series will return – the co-op for two. The entire storyline campaign and tasks can be completed with a friend. Moreover, for playing with a partner, it seems like they even prepared several special missions.

The Saints Row relaunch is out on February 25th on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and PC. On computers, the game will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store.

Here the game can easily be confused with the non-existent sequel to Mad Max.

And here – with the nonexistent sequel Total Overdose

But overall, this is exactly a return to the roots of Saints Row.
