Rust adds an underground rail network – Igromania

Developers from Facepunch studios released the March update for the survival simulator Rust

The main innovation is the underground railway network, the stations of which are now scattered around the world of the game and, as a rule, are located next to existing monuments. You can go underground by stairs or an elevator, but below the players are unfriendly inhabitants of the tunnels.

The authors note that the prey that the residents protect may well be worth the risk. In addition, in addition to mines and tunnels, players will find railway platforms. On them, you can encounter even more unfriendly inhabitants, but you can get better loot.

According to the developers, the underground rail network was the first example of a new dungeon system. The network is procedurally generated, and in the future the authors plan to add new segments, individual entrances near each monument, puzzles and new NPCs.

As a result, they want to use the system for procedural generation of the cave network.

At each station of the network there are two controlled working carts directed in opposite directions. They use low-grade fuel and can help with fast movement around the map. There may be barricades on the way that will damage the cart if you crash into them at high speed.

A special signal will warn players about approaching the barricade. Barricades can be breached without damaging the cart at low speed. Also, players will be able to choose the direction of movement at the crossroads and repair the cart with a hammer for metal fragments.

Additionally, in this update, players will find three slot machines in Bandit Town that accept scrap metal as bets, as well as various improvements and bug fixes. For a complete list of innovations, follow the link.
