From a technical point of view, an action movie “Commando” from Arnold Schwarzenegger far from the classics of cinema, which is clearly visible in the shootings in the third act of the film, where cardboard figures were used as enemy extras. However, that doesn’t mean the film is bad – on the contrary, it remains a near-perfect embodiment of the action-movie formula of the 1980s.
“Commando” meets almost all the requirements for the heyday of the genre, including a huge, muscular actor in the lead role, who, although not possessing outstanding dramatic skills, but can boast a mountain of charisma. In addition, the plot about revenge allowed Schwarzenegger to again do what he does best, namely, mow down an entire army of opponents with almost one hand, while at the same time diluting what is happening on the screen with jokes from time to time.
It would be difficult to repeat the success of the film, but the studio 20th Century already tried to do this before, when in 2010 instructed David Eyre (“Suicide Squad”) write a script for a remake. Since then, nothing has been heard about the project, but a few months ago, an insider Daniel Richtman said that the reboot of the cult action movie was re-launched into development.
Then Richtman argued that Schwarzenegger himself allegedly conducts negotiations about participating in the restart of “Commandos”, and now he has revealed no less interesting details of the caste. According to him, Schwarzenegger plans to return to the franchise not alone, but together with his longtime friend – Sylvester Stallone…
