The next rumor is one of those insane leaks that occur in an insider environment, and then swell by the community Xbox. It is clear that it can only be the tip of the iceberg – misinterpreted information obtained from the maelstrom of events that precede the launch of the new generation of consoles.
Nevertheless, it is impossible to ignore the information received, if only because of the busyness of hearing and interest in the discussion of this issue. So, the Spanish resource Generacion Xbox reports that the upcoming console Xbox Series X will have two modes of operation: the actual Xbox and Windows Mode. Using the latter, in particular, it will be possible to install certain applications compatible with Windows 10. Among them, there may be clients Steam and Epic Games Store. Thus, players will be able to run games from these platforms directly on their next-generation Xbox.
In fact, if desired, Microsoft can turn its system into a custom gaming PC. The platform holder only needs to install the appropriate operating system on it. Moreover, this decision fits into the company’s new policy of combining its own platforms into a single ecosystem. Previously, Microsoft refused to release exclusives, and since the summer of 2016, all games from its internal studios also go to PC.
As for the reliability of the source, where the rumor came from, earlier it was noticed in the publication of fairly truthful information. Last May, Generacion Xbox first published the cover of Gears 5 and announced that the game would be released on September 10th. A full-fledged presentation took place a few days later at the Microsoft press conference as part of E3 2019.
