In the executable file of the current build of the computer version Cyberpunk 2077 dataminers have found a number of links to the multiplayer role-playing component that the studio is currently working on CD Projekt RED…
In particular, the code found direct references to two multiplayer game modes.
The first one is called “Looting“(“Heists“). Here players can join active sessions, choose their class (“Solo“,”Assassin“,”Netrunner“,”Technician“) and carry out certain tasks together.
The second mode is typical Deathmatch, the essence of which boils down to the banal elimination of other players in individual matches.
Another point is related to the fact that multiplayer modes Cyberpunk 2077seem to be preferred P2P – no mention of standalone servers in the code…
CD Projekt itself has not yet fully explained how the multiplayer component of Cyberpunk 2077 will be distributed. Its production began in the fall of 2019.
Previously, the developers said that it is important for them to find the ideal distribution model, which would imply a fair and fair monetization system for the players.
Please note that the above information from the files may not be complete. The developers did not confirm it. Given that they are now focused on fixing bugs in the console versions, creating additional content and nextgen versions of the game, we are unlikely to hear about multiplayer in the near future.
