Now comes Ride 2 , another example of the enthusiasm of Milestone for this exciting world of speed, a simulator that in its first appearance fa

iled to reach the levels of quality that had been proposed by the Italian studio. Fortunately everything has changed in this second part, given that without being an outstanding game for several reasons that we will explain later, it does become a really viable option for enthusiasts of the world of two wheels.

If there was a playable section that hindered the fun in its first delivery , that was the one of its scarce content and diversity in general. Ride sinned t

o include a limited amount of motorcycles, circuits, game modes and other key elements for a title of its characteristics. It is true that through the various DLC packs that were appearing a posteriori this problem was solved gradually, but of course, for many players this came too late.

Milestone has learned from his mistakes and this time he offers us the possibility of piloting no less than more than 170 different bike

s , grouped in different categories and real brands. BMW R 1200, Ducati Diavel Carbon, Honda CB1000R Barracuda,

KTM Duke 690 R or Suzuki GSR 750 are some of the wonders that can be piloted. Do you seem few? As this number will increase significantly in several tens (up to 230) for all those who take the season pass (about 30 euros).

Another of the great innovations that have been integrated in my point of view is that these bikes are much more customizable than th

ey were before, being able to tinker in many aspects and choose between more than 1200different parts and pieces . The most expert mechanics and geeks of this kind of options will spend hours perfecting their precious two-wheeled machines and changing their suspension systems, brakes, engine, etc.

RIDE 2 analysis

Fun and diversity

But there is much more. Another of the important problems presented by the original game was its limited variety of circuits available which, i

t must be said, often affects many similar games. Well, this time the routes have grown to reach 30. And there is everything from training tracks to urban circuits, classic routes (Imola, Donington Park, Magny Cours, etc.) and others, clues that we they move to 15 different environments .

It is possible to choose a motorcycle among more than 170, being able to drive machines as powerful as this one you see.

However, the most important change that has been integrated into Ride 2 has to do with its improvement and increase in its purely playa

ble environment. To begin with, the number of options and game modespresented is really large, ranging from playing the typical races against the clock to compete against another player to split screen (as in the old days), play online against 11 other players at once or get into the main mode called World Tour .

This option is a kind of mess drawer that groups together different tests over several seasons. Competing against another rider, demonstra

ting our expertise in circuits with cones, playing normal races or participating in team competitions are some of the challenges offered by this curious option, which has seemed strange to me as strangely addictive.

To all this we add the usual weekly and daily challenges that are appearing and that add something more variety to a title, we reiterate, quite careful in that sense. It is the typical game that, if you like, you can keep busy for many weeks.

The feeling of speed is very achieved, at least from the perspectives in the first person.

The amount of options and game modes is tremendous

On the other hand, the control of motorcycles is in arcade or simulation, depending on what we like the most. And is that depending on the level of demand we choose and the “fine” we adjust our motorcycle when it comes to establishing some of its para

meters such as suspension, gear change and others, we will get a more realistic or more arcade. The response of both the bikes and the driv
ers is quite good and although sometimes it still gives the feeling that “float” on the track, has improved a lot in relation to what was established in the original delivery in this same facet.

The temple of two wheels

Anyone who has tried a Milestone video game will surely already know what to expect from its technical aspect. And is that if there is a defect that weighs down all the productions of this study is its visual aspect, which does not finish “start”. That’s because the graphics en

gine that is always used to give life to his works, the Yebis3 of Silicon Studio, has been somewhat outdated. A pity because, in games like this, this lack of visual brilliance takes its toll.

It is true, that we must make it very clear, that it shows quite a lot of evolution in relation to what was expressed in the original game. And that is seen

in many of the elements that we can contemplate, from the textures that cover the scenarios to the modeling of the bikes (really remarkable) or the rep

resentation of the grass and vegetation. But that does not hide the emptiness that certain funds show, the lack of showiness of some effects, the polygonal that some objects are noticed and other deficiencies that the title presents.

Does this affect the gameplay? The truth is that no … but other titles such as Forza Horizon 3 , Driveclub and many others do add a spectacular that improves the game experience simply through the staging, a field in which speed games have always marked trend.

And it would not have hurt a greater refinement in the physics of the pilots and motorcycles that, without being bad, sometimes clash a bit.

The sound is not the best of Ride 2 either , at all. The voice of the commentator who explains some of the details of the game is nice but somewhat “inhuman”, the effects of the engines meet without further ado and the soundtrack goes unnoticed.
