Review of the fastest external SSD WD Black P50

Nowadays, it makes sense to install SSDs even in the cheapest and simplest PCs – the price of these devices has not been so exorbitant for a long time to spare money for such a performance increase in comparison with hard drives. When it comes to external devices, in this niche solid-state drives have yet to regain ground from HDDs. But already now the market offers solutions that are capable of operating at previously unseen speeds. We will tell you about one of the fastest external SSDs.

Characteristics and appearance

The P50 line offers four storage options ranging from 500GB to 4TB. According to the manufacturer, this model was specially developed taking into account the requirements of gamers. The specs say that the WD Black P50 is capable of transferring data at speeds up to 2GB / s in both read and write modes. The drive can be connected to Windows and macOS PCs, as well as legacy PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. Nothing is said about the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, but here, most likely, the point is in the consoles themselves: neither Microsoft nor Sony announced support for external SSDs for the new generation.
