Company Nintendo continues to expand its holdings, taking small independent studios under its wing. Dutch developers from Paladin games have already established themselves in the mobile gaming market thanks to adaptations of well-known Japanese gaming brands Tamagochi and Katamari damacy, and their new project Good job! just got on Nintendo switch.
The influence of mobile gaming styling in Good Job! felt very much. Visually, minimalism prevails here with an emphasis on several bright colors, such as red, green and blue, which stand out against a plain background. Character models are made schematically, as on traffic signs. Such simplicity in design is caused, among other things, by the features of the gameplay, tied to a very advanced physics of objects.
A short screen saver before the start quickly and with humor introduces us to the course of events. The main character is the son of the owner of a rich company, and as befits a good father, we are being prepared from the cradle to take on the burden of a large inheritance.
Having celebrated adulthood, we immediately set off as an intern in our father’s business center to gain experience in rough work and prove our worth. There is only one small problem – the son grew up a pathological mess and almost everything he touches turns into a pile of debris.
Good job! is an isometric puzzle using physics. We begin our journey up the career ladder with the simplest assignments. For example, connect a projector in an office, stretch an Internet cable, or gather workers who are late at a lunch break for a meeting.
As you progress through the tasks, they will constantly change: you will have to control loading machines, cranes, deftly navigate in space, since the levels will quickly begin to grow in scale, both horizontally and vertically – many missions take place on several tiers at once.
The authors of the game tried to create as many different situations as possible, so even if some moments begin to repeat, they still feel in a new way and you do not have time to get bored.
