At the beginning of January Sony shipped a new batch of consoles Playstation 5 in Japan and for the first time allowed retailers to freely sell them without pre-orders and lotteries. There were long queues at the shops for several days. Photos showing them appeared on the network.
Despite the hype among hardcore fans of the brand, Japanese analysts are not yet confident about the long-term prospects of the PlayStation 5 in Sony’s home region. They note that the popularity of the brand in the country steadily declining it is not the first year, and the decisions of the American leadership of the PlayStation, including those related to the censorship of games, have been negatively perceived by many local gamers. Sony, for its part, says that the Japanese market and Japanese games are of great importance to it and points to close cooperation with local manufacturers, thanks to which, among other things, Final Fantasy XVI became a console exclusive for the PlayStation 5.
