Employee Microsoft created an application that allows you to use the Xbox One controller on a remote desktop. In this case, the local PC to which the gamepad is connected acts as a terminal.
The module is called Rdpgamepad and allows you to exchange data with your computer using the Remote Desktop Virtual Channel and a virtual copy of the gamepad on the remote desktop. Sources and finished files are available at Github.
This can be useful if you want to play on a low-power device, but at the same time there is a high-speed communication channel. With the development of 5G, this can become more popular.
Note that this application can act as a kind of alternative to streaming gaming services. Also recall that Amazon is preparing its own service called Project Tempo to compete with Google stadia, Microsoft xcloud and others.
