Rainbow Six: Siege developers are ready to switch to F2P after defeating the Smurfs

Developers Rainbow Six: Siege We would like the game to go on shareware rails, but the last word remains with the leadership Ubisoft. This was stated by the game designer to reporters Leroy Atanassoff.

The team is interested in making the shooter accessible to the widest possible audience. But transferring a project to another business model is a difficult process, because changing prices is not enough.

“To become a successful F2P game, you need to have certain functions,” Atanassoff explained.

One of these features should be protection against surfing. It is a practice when a player creates or buys a new account (smurf) in order to reset statistics and play with less experienced opponents.

Smurfs are actively struggling in one way or another in their projects Blizzard, Epic games, Valve and other studios. In Rainbow Six: Siege, they are not banned for creating an alternative account, but the developers do not intend to tolerate such behavior.

The player’s rating is calculated on the basis of the matchmaking rating system, which depends on the win / loss ratio. And some players deliberately “merge” matches. Ubisoft’s idea is to increase the number of monitored parameters, which will allow developers to quickly calculate smurfs.
