The largest western gaming portal IGN asked his readers how much they are willing to buy a new generation console. The survey was conducted in the light of the imminent release. Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X and was common – without division into systems. Users were simply asked to name the amount they are willing to spend on getting to know non-gen.
The survey results show that the idea of consoles for $ 600 is completely unpopular among the audience.
- 43.8% said that a price in the range of 400 to 500 dollars was acceptable to them.
- 24.3% of gamers are willing to pay $ 300-400 for the console.
- For 12.9% of the audience, the price does not matter.
- 11.1% are willing to pay 500-600 dollars.
- 7.9% – only 200-300 dollars.
Users who voted for the $ 200-300 option would obviously buy new consoles only at sales after a price drop a few years after the release.
In total, the editors of IGN processed more than 40 thousand votes.
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One came out in 2013 with price tags of $ 399 and $ 499 respectively.
