Work on the previously announced sequel to the film “Tomb Raider: Lara Croft” from Alicia Vikander starring may resume next year. The actress shared information about this in a conversation with the leading American television show Good morning america…
“We planned to start production this year, but the situation has certainly changed a lot due to the coronavirus pandemic. We are still discussing further plans and I hope we will be able to continue working next year.”
The film will be directed by Amy Jump. Ben Wheatley, who has already worked with Vikander on the tapes “High-rise” and “Shootout”. It was originally planned to start renting the picture in cinemas 19th March 2023, however, now the premiere will be shifted to a later date.
Earlier it was reported that the plot of the film will be based on the last two games of the series – Rise of the Tomb Raider, whose history was tied to the search for a holy source, and Shadow of the tomb raiderwhere Lara saved the world from the apocalypse predicted by the Mayan people. Supernatural elements must appear in the story itself…
Released in 2018, the first part received conflicting reviews from critics (48/100 on Metacritic and 52% on RottenTomatoes), but paid off at the box office, collecting about $ 275 million with a budget of $ 94 million
