Arizona resident from Phoenix named Ryan Whitaker was shot from behind at close range by police after he walked out to them with a pistol in his hand. A patrol of law enforcement officers arrived at the address as a result of complaints from a neighbor on top of the noise, but as it later turned out from the words of the girl of the deceased, they just played together Crash Bandicoot on the Playstation and danced salsa.
The man came out to the police with a pistol, because he did not know who had arrived – at the beginning of the month an unknown person knocked on the couple’s door.
The incident took place on May 21, but new details still continue to emerge. In particular, the American press writes that the neighbor who called the police could exaggerate when he complained about the noise – he pointed out that the sounds from the apartment of the man playing Crash Bandicoot sounded like the noise from a fight.
A 40-year-old man opened the door with a firearm on his belt, which is permitted by law, as seen in the posted video from the police camera. Then, realizing that the police officers were in front of him, he put the pistol away and immediately knelt down, but the policeman standing behind him fired several fatal shots.
