PlayStation 5 failed to launch Unreal Engine 5 technical demo in honest 4K / 30 FPS

Company Epic games formally introduced Unreal engine 5 and showed a technical demonstration of the engine for Playstation 5. Specialists Digital foundry of Eurogamer told that on the console the demo worked with 30 FPS and in most cases was displayed in resolution 1440p.

Site conducted an in-depth analysis of the material and even interviewed the developers of Epic Games, in which the vice president of development Nick Penvarden told experts the following:

“She works very well with our dynamic resolution technology. When the load on the GPU becomes high, we can slightly reduce the screen resolution, and then adapt to it. In the demonstration, we used dynamic resolution, although in most cases the rendering took place at 1440p. “

The studio also confirmed that in the demo for PS5 no real-time ray tracing:

“Hardware ray tracing will be supported in Unreal Engine 5, but it was not part of today’s PS5 technical demo.”

In an interview with the publication Pc gamer Epic Games CTO Kim Libreri said that on a PC with a video card RTX 2070 Super you can achieve “pretty good” indicators. However, he did not name specific results.

Recall that the graphic power of the PlayStation 5 is 10.28 teraflops, and the RTX 2070 Super is just over 9 teraflops.
