In a remarkably short period of time, the Swedish holding Embracer Group has become a serious force that all players in the gaming industry will have to reckon with. Through a series of acquisitions, the conglomerate has brought together a huge number of major developers and publishers under its wing, including THQ Nordic, Deep silver, Coffee stain, Saber Interactive, Gearbox, 4A Games, Aspyr, Flying Wild Hog, Tarsier Studios and other companies. As you might expect, all these deals will lead to a significant increase in the number of games released in the near future.
As part of a recent quarterly financial briefing, the company’s CEO Lars Wingefors said that during the next financial year (until April 2023), the development of about 70 premium (paid) games will be completed – and that’s not even counting any projects that create recently acquired Gearbox and Aspyr… In addition, Wingefors noted that in the second half of 2023, the Embracer Group will release more games than usual.
Of the company’s extensive line of games in development, the closest to release is an action-adventure game Biomutant – it will be released on May 25 this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (Steam). Other projects scheduled for release in 2023 include: Evil Dead: The Game, Chorus, Chivalry 2 and King’s Bounty 2…
