Original Sin 2, but get rid of them – review

In an interview with Kanobu, the creators Baldur’s Gate III shared new details about the project.

For example, they responded to criticism regarding the visual similarity of the new Baldur’s Gate and Divinity: Original Sin 2. She, as it turned out, is associated with the use of many assets from the previous game Larian studios.

Approaching the release (now the game is pre-alpha), developers will gradually get rid of this “baggage”. The team intends to at least redraw the icons and change the interface. In general, visually the game already looks much darker than Original Sin 2.

Turn-based battles, by the way, appeared in the third part because of the desire to match the original source – that is, Dungeon & Dragons. In addition, developers work just fine with this type of gameplay.

From the interview it also became known that frozen in the fall Divinity: Fallen Heroes still under development – now a small Larian team is working on tactical spin-offs, but they are not ready to report anything specific about the project.

What else was said in the material?

  • the game will stay in early access “as needed” – no one will rush
  • Crossplay is still in doubt, although they want to implement it
  • partners can almost turn into illithids at the very beginning – the game will continue, but if they become a protagonist, then this is the end.

Baldur’s Gate III will appear in early access on the PC and Stadia in the coming months, but when the full version is released, no one can say yet.
