Nvidia RTX 2080 compared to PS5 and Xbox Series X

Company Nvidia compares one of its most powerful and advanced GeForce RTX 2080 graphics cards with next-generation consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X.

At Nvidia’s presentation at the GTC China 2019 event, Jensen Huang, CEO of the company, said the GeForce RTX 2080 with real-time ray tracing is more powerful than the next-generation console video card. He did not specify which platform he was talking about. According to numerous leaks and rumors, the PS5 and Xbox Series X use almost identical processors and video cards based on AMD solutions. Jensen Juan could mean both consoles from Sony and Microsoft.

Just in case, Jensen Juan said that future consoles are superior in performance to both of the most powerful video cards: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, Gamebomb.ru reports. Some experts believe that this statement is premature. About a year remains before the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. During this time, Sony and Microsoft engineers can do a good job on their devices and achieve significant performance improvements. In addition, Juan could mean a budget version of the future Xbox. According to rumors, Microsoft is still planning to release a less productive console with a low price and focus on cloud streaming.

Nvidia released its most powerful graphics cards supporting GeForce RTX 2080 and GeForce RTX 2080 Ti raytracing on September 20, 2018. In July 2019, updated versions of these devices were released. They got increased performance and the Super prefix in the name.

PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles are expected to be available in November or December 2023.
