Developer The Long Dark Raphael van Lirop outraged by the addition of a popular survival simulator to the library GeForce Now – a list of games officially supported by the streaming service. According to him, Nvidia she did it without permission, without preliminary discussion with the authors, which, I am sure, should not happen. Studio Hinterland immediately demanded that the manufacturer remove the game from GeForce Now.
“I want to apologize to everyone who played The Long Dark through GeForce Now, but can no longer. NVIDIA added our game to the service without permission, so we asked to remove it,” the author explained.
Rafael van Lirop urged gamers to send complaints directly to NVIDIA itself, not Hinterland Studios. According to him, the developers are open to cooperation, but will not tolerate disrespectful relations.
“Developers should have the right to decide where to release their games,” he stressed.
Previously, they removed their products from the GeForce Now service Activision Blizzard and Bethesda softworks.
NVIDIA promises cloud platform users the ability to run games they bought on Steam through a virtual computer, but at the same time it is promoting a paid subscription. Content producers want to get their piece from this pie.
“They sell access to the library of content purchased by users on Steam. We have a choice: to be in this library on GeForce Now or not. On Steam, we formed a distribution agreement with Valve, not with NVIDIA.”
According to the developer of The Long Dark, NVIDIA apologized to Hinterland Studios and offered a free graphics card as compensation.
“Perhaps they will offer you a video card,” Rafael van Lirop wrote to gamers.
Recently, the number of GeForce Now users has exceeded the mark of 1 million people.
