Company AMD officially presented the technology FidelityFX Super Resolution, which journalists immediately dubbed the answer to DLSS from NVIDIAIt will debut on June 22, 2023 and will be supported by graphics cards not only from AMD, but also from NVIDIA

FidelityFX Super Resolution is an open source AI image scaling technology. According to the official description, it will allow you to flexibly adjust the balance between quality and performance in games, ultimately guaranteeing the best performance on different hardware solutions. For example, the technology is capable of doubling the frame rate in some games.

The work of FidelityFX Super Resolution was told on the example of the Godfall project.

In native 4K resolution at maximum ray-traced graphics settings, a PC with a Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics card produces ~ 49 FPS in this game. When FidelityFX Super Resolution is activated, you can use four picture modes: ultra quality, quality, balance and performance. In the example of Godfall, the frame rate in this case rises to 78 FPS, 99 FPS, 124 FPS and 150 FPS, respectively.

One of the features of FidelityFX Super Resolution is also support for very old video cards, and not only from AMD. For example, in Godfall on GeForce GTX 1060, the technology increases the frame rate by 41%.
