On the official website of the gaming exhibition E3 2023 a document appeared (already deleted by now), which included a list of words that are prohibited from being used in the framework of upcoming digital events and shows.
The presented filter contained both quite obvious words and expressions, such as foul language or insults, and somewhat unusual options.
For example, the organizers of the upcoming digital E3 2023 plan to ban the use of words based on religion on the show. In particular, they got banned “Allah“,”God“, “Christ“, “Lucifer“,”Koran“,”Azazel“and more. In addition, the words”Canada“and”Canadian“. The latter is especially surprising, but there is an explanation for this.
According to publications in the media, residents of a number of southern US states began to call blacks “Canadians” – this word replaces the derogatory with the letter “H”.
“While working in one of the shops, my black friend found that her clients complained in conversations with each other that they were always served by a Canadian. At first, she did not understand what it was about, and assumed that they were discussing someone else.
But the discussions did not stop, and then she told her colleague about it. He, in turn, explained that “Canadian” is a new derogatory term that southerners use to describe people they previously called with a word with the letter “H”, – said one of the users.
Similar cases have been reported in other regions.
Against the background of active discussions on the network, the resource Techraptor asked for comments to representatives of the organization ESAwho is putting on a show and was able to get an answer. As the officials explained, the file found on the site was created to test future filters, and the list of words presented in it may differ from the final result.
