Channel VG Tech released a video testing a fantastic rogue-light shooter Returnal from the Housemarque studio.
Although the developers of the game promised 4K support, in reality this is not entirely true. The new PlayStation 5 exclusive uses a temporal upsampling technique to reconstruct images from 1080p in permission 2880 x 1620 pixels…
In terms of performance, most of the time the project runs at 60 FPS, but in large battles and scenes with a lot of effects, drawdowns sometimes occur. In the test, several cases were recorded where the frame rate dropped to 50-55 FPS, and the minimum indicator in one moment was 46 fps… In addition, small drops of several frames can occur during runs through rooms, which is similar to loading the next location. At the same time, since Returnal is based on procedural level generation, the frame rate can vary differently for all users.
Returnal was only released yesterday on PS5. The Western press rated the novelty on average at 86/100 according to Metacritic, and our review can be found here…
