Company Nintendo revealed new details of a life simulator Animal Crossing: New Horizonsexpected to be sold on the console Switch already March 20, 2023. We chose the main thing from the presentation.
- In New Horizons, action will unfold on a distant uninhabited island, which will have to equip the players. Traditionally for Animal Crossing, everything that happens in the world will be tied to real time.
- You can select an island in the northern or southern hemisphere. The change of seasons will depend on this. The game comes out in March, therefore, residents of the northern hemisphere will soon see on their screens, for example, sakura blossoms. For each season, the authors have prepared unique activities and events.
- On the island you will immediately be given a tent – it is in it that you will live the first time. However, over time, you will have the opportunity to build a house, taking a perpetual and interest-free mortgage without guarantors. For it you will have to make contributions, the amount of which will be determined by you. The house is much more spacious than a tent, and here you can turn around in terms of customizing both the interior (space design, repairs, furniture selection) and the exterior. The aspect of individualization in the game is very wide.
- One of the features of the game will be an in-depth system of crafting and customizing everything and everyone. Residents will be able to collect all kinds of objects and craft various tools and things from them. Over time, the hero will also be able to learn and gain new skills – for example, repainting furniture and applying unique drawings to it. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Later it will be possible to build bridges, lifts, transitions on the island and even carry out large-scale relief changes, which is an absolute innovation for Animal Crossing. For example, you can change the riverbeds, destroy rocks and build land on the water.
- Animal Crossing mascot Tom Nook, who will follow the development of the island and contact the residents every morning with radio news, will present the character with a nukofon phone with various applications, including a map of the area and a camera. The latter can be used to create screenshots with unique filters. Over time, developers will add more applications to the nukofon – this will open up new gameplay elements.
- For completing various tasks, players will receive the so-called Mile Nook. These miles can be redeemed for in-game rewards, including unique items. They can also pay with Nuk for the virtual package of services “Uninhabited Island”.
- Up to eight people can live on the same island and equip it. Up to four people play simultaneously. If several family members use your Switch console, everyone will be able to settle on the island and develop their own site, but there can only be one island on one console.
- You can invite other people to your island. You can also travel to foreign islands. All this happens through the airport. In addition, you will be allowed to go on vacation in the so-called surprise voyages – this is when until the last you do not know where the pilot, working on the basis of your mood, will take you. In these new places, which are picturesque tiny islands, you can collect materials that are not in your home and get acquainted with unique characters. The latter are invited to settle in their territory or to invite to a tournament, for example, fishing.
- Initially, you will have few inhabitants on the island, but over time new unique neighbors will appear, conducting various activities, as well as tourists. The island will also be replenished with various institutions, including shops, museums, ateliers and camping.
- Gamers are invited to communicate with other players in Animal Crossing: New Horizons through the Nintendo Switch Online mobile application (sending text messages and voice chats is announced), where the NookLink section appears. Through this application, you can also transfer your individual drawings from Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer with Nintendo 3DS to the new game.
- Nintendo plans to regularly release free updates for New Horizonsadding new experiences and rare tourist guests. So, in April there will be a celebration of Hare Day.
- The game supports amiibo and integration with the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp mobile project, but there is no cloud storage system. But Nintendo plans to launch a service that will restore progress in the event of a console loss or failure.
