We continue our acquaintance with the next generation consoles. Today we received a junior console from Microsoft – Xbox series s, which we quickly unpacked for you.
Unlike Xbox series x (see our unboxing here), the box of the younger model looks more like boxes in shape Xbox one x and Xbox one s… The box is about the same width and height as the Xbox Series X, and it is half the depth. It is made of the same dense two-layer cardboard, but quite different in terms of design – with an emphasis on the fact that this is a system for digital content. The weight of the whole set is 3.2 kg…
Similar to the packaging of the Xbox Series X, the Xbox Series S box also opens from the bottom – like a box. The console is neatly placed in protective cellophane, which is wrapped in a small cardboard with the slogan “Power your dreams”. At the same time, to protect the junior console from damage during transportation, not foam plastic is used, but very dense textured cardboard.
Behind the console in the package is another small box containing all the accessories, namely a High Speed HDMI (2.0) cable, a network cable, a new white gamepad with a pair of batteries, and a manual with warranty and agreement information.
As for the console itself, it is very lightweight. Its weight is approximately 1.9 kg. The body is made of matte white plastic. It is not easily soiled – the quality is very good.
The console can be placed both vertically and horizontally. Thanks to the legs on the bottom and back, it stands very stable in any position, and the body is not scratched from contact with the surface.
Since this console is positioned as a digital one, you will not find the usual optical drive here. In one corner there is a power button, and in the other there is a USB Type-A port and a button for connecting a controller, which also has an infrared sensor for the control panel.
On the side of the Xbox Series S is the cooling system perforation, which is hidden under a black grill. There is also the same perforation on one of the sides of the console. Unlike the older version, the holes here are quite small, so dropping something there will be problematic.
On the back are the main ports and a service sticker. In addition to the power connector, you can see an Ethernet port, two USB Type-A slots, an HDMI 2.0 output and a connector for increasing memory using a special expansion card. It is worth noting that next to each of the connector types there is a special convex designation in the power of braille, which will allow you to recognize the desired port by touch.
