New update adds a new Start menu to Windows 10 – here’s how to enable it

Next update Windows 10 20H2 will be a kind of “service pack”, and not a full-fledged patch. Purely cosmetic changes are expected there. Including an updated Start menu. That is, version 20H2 is build 2004, but with additional features enabled.

And, as it turns out, these features are already available as part of the optional update KB4568831. In particular, it has a redesigned Start menu and improvements for Alt-Tab. At the moment, these features are not activated, but they can be enabled through the registry edit.

Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Open Notepad
  2. Paste this code there:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSet
ControlFeatureManagementOverrides2093230218]
“EnabledState”=dword:00000002
“EnabledStateOptions”=dword:00000000

  1. Save the file with the name 20H2.reg, then run it and agree to apply the changes.
  2. Reboot the system.

It will also include other new features.
