“New IPs Are Awesome”: Sony Chooses Partnerships with Developers Over Studios

Chapter PlayStation Studios Hermann Hulst told in an interview with Eurogamer that Sony prefers to forge external partnerships for graduation on Playstation new exclusive IPs rather than buying up studios with pre-existing franchises to keep the gaming lineup fresh.

PlayStation Studios is growing, he says, and “is always on the lookout for incredible new experiences,” regardless of genre or studio size. Sony’s focus is on finding talent and expanding their development resources for creativity without limits, offering the same support and capabilities as its own teams.

“If you come across a bunch of people who are creating a new team, have incredible experience and matured as creative people, and then you take off their shackles, give them a blank sheet of paper, then it’s just interesting to see what they do with it.”

Deviation games, who revealed last week that it has been working on a breakthrough new AAA title for the PlayStation 5 for over a year.

“The new IPs are awesome. We always strive to bring new experiences to the audience and the PlayStation community. As the head of PlayStation Studios, it’s also an honor to find teams like Deviation to work with them. Obviously they can sign deals with anyone. believe in our commitment to innovation and quality, so we need to find ways to deliver the most innovative and high-quality experiences to audiences, and in the end it doesn’t matter to me how organizationally it is. “.

In addition to Deviation, Sony also entered into similar agreements with studios. Firewalk and Haven… All of them create exclusives that will be released under the PlayStation Studios brand.
