New Football Manager announced later than usual – review addiction

Studio Sports Interactive and SEGA last November released Football Manager 2023, the latest installment in the acclaimed series of football management simulators. At the same time, it was announced at the end of August. However, the scheme will not be repeated this year.

Sports Interactive director Miles Jacobson said 2023 was a difficult year for the studio, primarily due to the coronavirus pandemic and related quarantine measures. However, the company continued to work on games, although this proved to be much more difficult from a distance.

Additional problems were created by the fact that the football industry, which the creators of the Football Manager series are targeting, finds itself in a similar situation. Some football leagues are still undecided on plans, some countries have changed the timing of transfers, and it is not known if safety rules will apply next year.

During this entire period, we did not really talk about plans for the future, and I am generally against announcements until everything is finally decided. I know our fans are not happy about this, but this policy has been justified for more than 25 years.

Today I can confirm that despite all the challenges in the world, new Football Manager games will be released this year. They will appear a little later than we originally planned, but we are preparing powerful feature sets for them – although they are different from what we planned in January.

The head of the studio also announced that Football Manager 2023 and its accompanying projects will be released on more platforms than before. Whether this means a console release, we will not know until the official announcement takes place. The release is expected to take place in December.
