Digital platform Netflix confidently directed her gaze towards Japanese animation. The company not only sponsors the creation of various animated series and films, but also adapts existing material. One of the most notable adaptations of this kind is the upcoming multi-part “Cowboy bebop“, based on the eponymous anime director Shinichiro Watanabe.
The io9 portal recently chatted with Javier Grillo-Marxua, one of the screenwriters “Bebop“from Netflixwho told a lot about the upcoming show. Below we have written out the highlights of the interview for you.
- Rumors that doggie Ainu change the breed – a lie. The dog, as in the original, will be a real corgi.
- The series will be a very reliable adaptation. For the crew it was important that the project did not lose the spirit of the anime and resembled the original source in everything from costumes to tone and mood.
- Despite this, “Netflix Cowboy Bebop Will Still Be Complemented With A Number Of Original Scenes And Episodes. The timing of each series is one hour, which, obviously, is more than 22-minute anime episodes, respectively, and the story will undergo certain changes.
- Netflix will use some creative freedom and assumptions in order to better reveal Spike and create more end-to-end storylines that will intersect with many episodes and scenes in order to create a more complete narrative.
- Some recognizable elements of familiar images of your favorite characters will also undergo free adaptation. For example, Spike will be less likely to reach for cigarettes, and Fay’s costume will be less outspoken.
- The Bebop film crew hopes that all fans of the original anime will give a chance to the new series and rightly appreciate the new adaptation, which promises to be not a replacement, but an addition to the classic canon.
“Not the best adaptations and restarts of your favorite works will always appear on the screens. But we approached the work as fans. We love this genre, we love science fiction, and we love Bebop,” the scriptwriter concluded.
Now “Cowboy bebop“from Netflix does not have an exact premiere date. Lead actor John cho (Spike spiegel) during the filming, he was seriously injured, due to which the production of the show stopped after three shots, and later the world was shocked by an epidemic of coronavirus infection.
But despite all this, screenwriters are already actively working on ideas for the second season, for which the series was extended a few months ago.
